Malene Wines, the newest member of Crimson Wine Group, is proud to introduce its first offering – the debut of Malene Rosé. This is a beautiful, distinctive wine made with intent, in the classic Provençal style, but with a California spin.
True to the Provençal blend of Grenache, Mourvedre and Vermentino, Malene is a crisp, dry, complex wine. Inspired by the Rosés of southern France, Malene is made with carefully selected fruit from specific sites in the California Central Coast regions of Santa Barbara and Paso Robles by winemaker Fintan du Fresne, a veteran of the region.
“I’ve been an admirer of the incredible Rosés of Provence for many years and the 2015 Malene Rose is truly an homage to those wines,” said du Fresne. “It is made in made in a classic Provençal style from grapes sourced and picked exclusively for Rosé.”
California’s Central Coast shares a similar climate to southern France with sunny, warm days followed by evenings that are cooled by the Pacific Ocean, allowing the vines to produce fruit that is aromatic, yet structured enough to create a balanced, elegant Rosé.
Drawing its name from the colorful Tourmaline gem, Malene has a gorgeous pale salmon-colored hue. Malene is low in alcohol and ideal as a refreshing aperitif on warm summer days, but also pairs easily with shellfish, chicken and light pasta dishes.
Carefully crafted in a small amount, the 2015 Malene Rosé will be available May 1st in select wine shops and restaurants in Arizona, California, Colorado, Washington DC, Florida, Illinois, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, New Jersey, New York, and Texas. The 2015 Malene Rosé retails for $22 per bottle.
